After winning the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, Afghanistan are to play India and South Africa in group C. Having been in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 5 just two years ago, alongside the likes of Jersey and Vanuatu, under the guidance of coach Kabir Khan the team has rapidly risen up the rankings, achieving ODI status in 2009. Stars to watch out for include all-rounder Mohammad Nabi and fast bowler Hamid Hassan.

ICC announces the Grouping and the venue to be used for ICC World twenty20 2010. Twenty20 World champions Pakistan is grouped with Australia and Bangladesh in Group A. Pakistan will start their title defense with the game against Bangladesh on May 1st 2010.
